  Local citizens in Jefferson City have been working to control the feral cat population. To help, pet owners can neuter and spay their cats and support organizations that work with controlling the feral cat population.

 In February 2020, a local fencing competitor, Jason Bright, decided to start a club for people in the Jefferson City area to enjoy the sport of fencing. Until now, this sport has remained not widely practiced in the area.
